Madera County Sheriff

Tyson J. Pogue

Serving Madera County

I am a proud, lifelong, resident of Madera County.  It was the love of this community that has called me to serve at the Madera Sheriff’s Office since 2001.

Experienced

I have served Madera County for more than two decades, and will continue to serve, because I believe in Madera County. Being a deputy was never just a job for me.  Being a deputy was a calling to provide a service to the community in which I grew up, a community that I love, and a community in which I am now raising my own family.  I have a vested interest in doing what’s best for Madera County, our deputies and the Madera Sheriff’s Office as a whole.

Qualified

The Madera County Sheriff serves as the Madera County Coroner and the Madera County Director of Emergency Services.  Additionally, the Madera Sheriff is responsible for Search and Rescue Operations, boat patrol, the county jail, serving civil processes and orders and overseeing a complex budget.

I have held supervisory roles (sergeant rank or higher) for the past 15 years with the last 9 years being in command and executive staff (lieutenant rank or higher).  Over the years, I have served as the Incident Commander during several major incidents, wildfires, and disasters.

Community Service

I am actively involved in the community where I volunteer my time in two service organizations and serve on two volunteer boards. I am an active member of the Madera Noontime Rotary Service Club as well as the Madera Evening Lions Club. I am the Chairperson for the California Peace Officer Association (CPOA) Region V Board and the chairperson of the Community Action Partnership of Madera County Board of Directors.

“It’s an honor to serve as the Sheriff of this great county.”
